Act 2 Scene 5 – Without You

Act 2 Scene 7

While I have worked extensively busking for concerts as well as designing smaller events and theatrical projects, this was my first Lighting Design credit at Penn State University. My Fair Lady ran directly after a play in the same venue, and the two shows shared a base set as well as a base light plot. I collaborated with the designer for the play to build a plot that would work for both of us, with as little changeover tasks as possible. While this process was condensed and came with very many challenges and time crunches, I am really proud of the work that I did for this production, and I learned a lot about building a plot as well as cueing time management.

Act 1 Scene 5 – Servant’s Chorus

Concept Statement: My goal is to evoke a very impressionist image of the world that the show takes place in. I am interested in making the play feel timeless, almost like a fairy tale. The lighting will be focused on helping to define the different locations of the play, so my goal is to build a very cohesive world that is not quite like our own. The lighting will be realistic overall, without many bold or exceptionally vibrant colors. Throughout this whole production, our goal is to recenter Eliza, and all of the women in this story.
